  • 3 min read

In Witness in the Shadows, danger and romance collide in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When a serial killer targets an FBI agent, the hunt turns deadly—and deeply personal. As the suspense intensifies, so does an unexpected partnership built on courage, trust, and the will to survive.

1. What inspired this story?

The story began with a series centered on the Kyndall siblings, as I wanted a strong family dynamic, and it evolved from there. It seemed right to start with the only sister. Alexa has spent years tracking criminals with precision and control—so I wanted to explore what happens when that control slips and she becomes the target. Setting the story in the Blue Ridge Mountains added the perfect mix of beauty and isolation to heighten the danger.

2. Tell us about your heroine, Alexa Kyndall.

Alexa is relentless, disciplined, and deeply committed to justice. She doesn’t scare easily—but emotionally, she keeps her guard up. She’s had it rough because of her work and her past, and other than her siblings, she's used to relying on herself, so being forced to trust someone else may be her greatest challenge.

3. What makes Craig Pierson the right hero for this story?

Craig isn’t flashy or reckless. He’s steady. Protective. Grounded. While Alexa leads with evidence and logic, Craig leads with instinct and heart. He sees what she tries not to show—and he’s willing to stand between her and danger without hesitation.

4. What can readers expect from Witness in the Shadows?

High stakes, a relentless serial killer, and a romance forged under pressure. The tension builds as the hunt tightens, and the emotional journey unfolds alongside the suspense. It’s a story about trust—earned, tested, and ultimately life-saving.

5. Why the Blue Ridge Mountains as the setting?

I spent time in western North Carolina, and when it came time to select a setting, the Blue Ridge Mountains fit my vision for this story. The area has this breathtaking beauty—but also deep woods, winding roads, and quiet isolation. It felt like the perfect backdrop for a story where danger hides in plain sight.

6. What theme runs strongest through this book?

Trust. Alexa has spent her life trusting evidence and procedure. This time, survival requires something more personal—trusting another person with her life and her heart.
